Jan Enseling was born on May
24, 1981 in Bottrop (Germany). After studying English and History at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, he went to the Sprachen & Dolmetscher Institut (SDI). After three years he
earned his qualification as a nationally certified translator in 2012. He has been a freelance translator since January 2011. In July 2013, he became a publicly appointed and sworn translator for
the English language, and in October 2013, he joined the BDÜ (Federal Association of Interpretors and Translators in Germany).
His work is focused on fictional texts. The translations created in this subject matter have led to a profound understanding of context and terminology, which are reflected in other areas of expertise.
Literature plays a significant role in terms of communication, not only between author and reader, but especially between different cultures. This is based on the philosophy that enthusiastic readers of novels are brought together by translations.
